Over a fortnight following the shocking loss of celebrated filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones are still paying respects to the pair.
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt prepared to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his first meeting with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started sharing more moments together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted behind-the-scenes footage from the film, adding that he doesn't recollect "a single day without mirth".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
In a distinct tribute, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"He was skilled at improv with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese added.
Recently, a Los Angeles court official agreed to block the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, after an appeal from the Los Angeles Police Department.
A judicial mandate put a restriction on the cases to prohibit the public release of "related notes, evidence and photographs" connected to the active case.
The relevant authority had previously confirmed their deaths were the result of murder, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Following the deaths, public figures shared different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump commented on the matter, making divisive claims that were broadly criticized by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan lent his voice to the detractors recently. Conversing on his program, Rogan labeled the remarks as "disappointing" and implied they showed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by remarking that an aide could have intervened when the choice to comment on the death was made.
