The 43rd annual Golden Joystick Awards took place this past week, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 emerged as the top winner. The breakout role-playing game from Sandfall Interactive secured the prestigious Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Superb Storytelling and Top Visual Design.
Enhancing the studio's achievements, the talented cast also were honored with individual awards. Jennifer English received Top Lead Actor for her portrayal as Maelle, while Ben Starr earned Best Supporting Actor for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself was named Studio of the Year. In total, Clair Obscur and its creative team won 7 awards throughout the event.
Additional standout winners featured Ghost of Yōtei, which won Top Sound Design and Console Game of the Year, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, honored with Outstanding Independent Game and PC Game of the Year. It is important to note, the lion's share of Golden Joystick Awards are selected by the audience, with only four special—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough, Lifetime Achievement, and Streamer Selection—determined by experts.
