Barcelona have announced they will play at the still-under-construction Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out so building work could begin.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited though over 45,000 attendees can be present under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed recent additions comprise a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Barça organized an open training session at the Camp Nou on 7 November. The club said approval is being pursued by UEFA to host the next European match against Eintracht Frankfurt in December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
